PROFESSIONAL HOME WHITENING

Home whitening allows you to achieve great results in the comfort of your own home and is a popular option at London Dental Centre, providing great results!

On your first appointment our dentist will take an impression of your teeth to send to our dental lab to make a custom-fit mouthguard. This professional mouthguard can be reused for future treatment cycles and ‘top-ups’.

Once your mouthguard arrives we will also issue you with your personal whitening gels and you’re ready to get started! Using your mouthguard at home, you will regularly apply the gel for a specified period as per your treatment plan (this is usually over 2 to 4 weeks, but some patients may only need a treatment period of 1 week). It’s as simple as that!

IN-OFFICE CLINIC WHITENING

In-office whitening, also known as laser or power whitening, is another type of teeth whitening system we provide. A whitening gel is painted onto your teeth and then a light is shone on them to activate the whitening. Laser whitening takes about an hour.

Cosmetic Teeth Whitening is all the rage in London these days and so it should be! At London Dental Centre we are committed to helping you achieve a happier, healthier smile and often the answer is Tooth Whitening.

WHAT IS TOOTH WHITENING?

Teeth whitening is a treatment used to lighten the existing colour of your teeth to help achieve a brighter smile.

London Smile

why choose teeth whitening?

A smile is the first thing you notice when you meet someone and it can make all the difference in leaving behind a postitive, professional impression! Teeth Whitening is a fast, inexpensive and non-invasive solution to achieveing a confident, impressionable and impressive smile. An investment worth making!

Our teeth contain millions of small microscopic pores and over time, substances from food, fizzy drinks, tea, coffee or tobacco penetrate these small pores causing our teeth to disclour and lose that natural shade. Teeth whitening enables you to regain that beautiful smile and achieve a fast and instant colour transformation of your teeth! Research shows that there is no risk to the enamel of the tooth from this treatment and this painless method leaves your teeth visibly brighter.

Tooth Whitening provides a way for you to lighten the natural colour of your teeth without causing it any damage. It enables you to lighten your current shade and our current whitening technology provides fast and effective results.

You can chose between our in-office LED whitening system or the home-whitening, each treatment is tailored specifically to the individual needs of the patient. To achieve the best results however, most of our clients opt for the in-office whitening followed by a bespoke home whitening kit to achieve the best results!

The Dentists at London Dental Centre are experienced in providing the best cosmetic solutions for yellow or discoloured teeth. The clinic, in Islington, uses a dedicated LED whitening system for a unique whitening experience.

Teeth Whitening FAQs

How do I find out about getting my teeth whitened?

Simply book an appointment at London Dental Centre and our dentists will advise you whether whitening is right for you and which option would suit you better. It may be that teeth whitening isn't suitable, for example if you have gum disease or are looking to whiten your crowns. All new patients will need a dental check-up before proceeding to determine suitability.

Is teeth whitening permanent?

Teeth whitening is not permanent. It can last from a few months to up to 3 years – it varies from person to person and depends on your oral health. The whitening effect won't last as long if you smoke or drink red wine, tea or coffee, which can all stain your teeth.

Will teeth whitening work on false teeth?

Teeth whitening doesn't work on dentures, crowns, fillings or veneers.

What are the risks of teeth whitening?

No matter what option you use, there is always a small chance your gums could be sensitive to the chemicals used in teeth whitening, particularly if you already have sensitive teeth. There's also a small chance of harm to gums or tooth enamel. However, at London Dental Centre, our dentists tailor your treatment to advise on the best whitening plan for you after thorough dental examination. We offer review appointments to all patients to monitor the effects of the treatment and are always on hand if you have any questions. We also recommend regular checkup and hygiene to maintain good long term outcomes. Risks of any complications are very low when your treatment is carried out by a qualified dentist.

Is teeth whitening available on the NHS?

The NHS only offer teeth whitening for medical reasons. For example, this might be to lighten teeth that have discoloured because the nerve has died. Otherwise, teeth whitening by a dentist or other dental professional can only be done privately because it's considered to be a cosmetic treatment. London Dental Centre offers both professional home whitening and in-office whitening with advanced LED technology.

Can I get whitening done at a beauty salon?

Teeth whitening is a form of dentistry and should only be carried out by a dentist or another regulated dental professional, such as a dental hygienist or dental therapist, on the prescription of a dentist. Only go to a registered dental professional for teeth whitening because whitening by people who aren't qualified, for example in beauty salons, is illegal.

Can’t I just buy a DIY home whitening kit?

There are several DIY home teeth whitening kits available to buy on the market and this is a grey area. Some of these may also carry risks and many home kits don't contain enough whitening product to be effective. Also, if a dental professional isn't doing the whitening, the mouthguard provided may not fit properly so some of the bleaching gel may leak out onto your gums and into your mouth, causing blistering and sensitivity. We would not recommend using DIY kits if you are looking for safe and sustainable results.
